  22. Purposely ignoring the obvious is like walking backwards toward the enemy.
  23. Taking ownership of failure builds the foundation for success.

what a match....

First of the semi finals...

Germany Vs. Turkey

I would say... Turkey has won... absolutely won... the score reads 3-2, Germany into the finals... But for me Turkey is the winner...

To start with, there weren't enough players for them to even start the game, injuries and players on bench to add misery to the pain...

until the last minute they were in the game...

I mean uptil now I thought it was luck that pulled them to this stage... but at this moment I feel it was not only luck but their game... a very high standard of football that they've been playing to reach to this stage... RESPECT...

Germany was stronger on paper... all the reviews from the experts, always were voting for Germany to win this...
surprisingly if you read the stats below... Germany had lower possession of the ball compared to that of Turkey, however I've never been much of a supporter for the game to be read by the possession time, for me what matters is the no. of shots on goal and how many did you score...
and Germany had a 100% hit rate... three shots and three goals... this is an unusual site... though impressed, but I must admit that this proves of the strong defense that Turkey has... in 90 minutes they allowed a team like Germany to shoot only thrice... dats impressive... no that's superb game play...
If you compare the Ball Possession time... Turkey had the ball with them for just 5 minutes more than that of Germany and they had eight more shots on target and if the captain simply fantastic... Nihat, the man who has been leading the team from the front was there on the field may be the score board would have read different...
It's all about how you approach the game...

"I definitely cannot write of Germany, as you never know, the team has always been known for the execution... Many a times they just play like a video game team, with the control console in the hands of coach Joachim... until its favorable no random shots..."

"ITALY vs. Spain"

Disappointment...
"Before tonight Spain had lost three quarter-final penalty shoot-outs on 22 June "
Neither teams played to their abilities, they were both missing the fire power... esp ITALY... this was the team I was rooting for... but no Pirlo and no Gatusso (I just love this guy when he's on the field)... Materrazi was also on the bench... :( ... Wasn't exactly expecting something brilliant...though... but wanted them to WIN...

The game did extend to the penalty shoot outs... but... unlike Spain, the Italians could not continue with the game... Casillas was the man to beat... Buffon was brilliant again ...

Luca Toni missed it... he had the chances and he missed them...

Chiellini... stood there like a wall... nothing passed through him...
Spain was no better... never did I feel that this was the team which started the series with a Bang!!! 4-1... David Villas had scored a hat trick... you don't see that too often... Sergio Ramos continued to show why he's amongst the respected few at such a young age... Torres ... again didn't click... Fabregas... did score the winning goal... but... during the game... you couldn't feel he was there...
In the end... penalty shoot outs... and Antonio De Natale couldn't handle the pressure... and Casillas had one of his most important saves ever...
SCORE: ITALY LOST TO SPAIN; 4-2 on penalties.

My Euro dream comes to an end...

However it would be interesting to see... who walks away with the crown...
Germany: Adept, very skilful and brilliant play makers, absolutely brilliant in terms of execution
Turkey: Luck, are no doubt good, but with luck on their side... they are winning
Spain: Young guns on the roll
Russia: Dominance, brute force, and Brains of Mr. Hiddink

Wknd-22.06.08

Wknd went of fine....
@ beach till late night... a friend had left for home... as in to India... gonna miss him for sure... " fantastic food followed by cpla coke cans and a lazy stroll on the beach... boss that was a fantastic evening...

@hulk... another day... had planned for the movie... nachos with loads of cheese... and an action pack superhero movie... what else could I asked for... oh yes I followed it up with pool... for the first two games... I didn't pot a single ball... and I lost 4-1....(the one game I won was not me winning but the other guy lost he pot the black ball in the wrong pocket...)
TURKEY VS CROATIA:
Icing on the cake: what a match... actually there are no analogy I can compare this to... absolute brilliant match... Turkey is riding on its luck the strongest... last game... they scored 3 goals in ten minutes... result they win 3-2, and in the Q-Finals, the last bloody touch... I mean the last bloody touch... and they equalize... Croats were already celebrating... scoring at the last minute, no one thought they could lose from here... and the last touch did the trick... Turkey moves to semis....

@Balls of fury... Maggie Q helped us survive the movie... followed by a bit of shopping... had food at at least three different restaurants... (not actually food... actually dinner only)... walk by the corniche...

Russia Vs. Netherlands...

Netherlands were playing like a team to fathom... were on a scoring spree... but... Russians led by Mr Hiddink... were incredible... the Netherlands were completely written off... in all fields...
absolutely amazing game... and the Russians deserved every minute of it...

Andrea Ashravin... I fell in love with this guys game... and Kolodin... with his long strikes... kept us all at the edge of our seats...

what more could I ask for from a wknd... actually a lot more... but yes... this one was fun...

Two in a row

It's been long since I've gone to a movie hall and saw a movie, by long I mean, a three weeks...

Me and a buddy from work decided to go for a movie, and at the counter, we realized that there was some campaign going on, if you buy the ticket using a particular card, you would get the other one free...
this triggered the 2nd one

** This time no detail reviews

Chronicles of narnia:
I'm a scuker for animated movies... I just waited through the movie for Ahsan... and it is well made...

Forbidden Kingdom:
Jackie Chan and JET LI... for the first time in one movie...

I was just in awe of Mr. Chan, I am a big fan of Mr. Chan for he's acrobatics and comic... always enjoyed his movies, seen a couple of Chinese flicks also, where I couldn't understand a word... but for his antics

Rush hour 3 was a bit rustic... and in this one... he's back... while watching the movie, at my current age, if I can twitch one muscle like he does at his age... I would be more than happy...
I failed to see if there was anything comic in the movie...

but Jackie Chan makes it up...
So I would say, worth a watch

Song I just fell in love with

Step one you say we need to talk
He walks you say sit down it's just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
You begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Let him know that you know best
Cause after all you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And pray to God he hears you

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
How to save a life
How to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
How to save a life

'food for thought'

"you can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways."

kind of a confession....

"21 the movie"

Meet me, the movie buff, I don't quite remember when I became a movie buff... I did watch quite a few movies, but they never became a part of me, like the way they have now, courtesy a friend in Mumbai... whatever little time I've spent with her, well we've seen so many movies together, that I grew addictive...

Anyways... of late the movies that I've been watching have only managed to substitute for the boredom.

21..........

I had an option of watching either the new release, THE BANK JOB or 21, I had a feeling that 21 is something I'm gonna really really enjoi... went ahead with the gut feel.

"Inspired by the true story of five students who changed the game forever."

"21" is the fact-based story about six MIT students who were trained to become experts in card counting and subsequently took Vegas casinos for millions in winnings.

it just took me ten minutes to fall in love with the movie, in intro, Professor Mickey is taking a maths class and he introduces them to the topic of variable change, and how it can be applied in real life situations, I just fell in love with the movie just abt right now... for that matter, I never really realised my love for numbers... uptil this moment I enjoyed playing with numbers, I've managed to use this to max score in maths many a times... but never did I knew I loved it...

Anywaz coming back to the story of 21,
The film features nice performances from actors Kevin Spacey and Laurence Fishburne, as well as nice entries from the lesser known ensemble.

After this superb beginning... the team trained by Prof. Mickey goes to Vegas as part of the blackjack team... this is when the movie begins to seriously fall apart... the signals used in the movie to indicate each other of the Hot Table, of the hundreds and thousands of casinos in Vegas, why do they keep going to the same casinos...

To add to this the stereotypical hindi movie ending... Ben, loses Everything and has to double... find a way to outsmart Micky and get his life back together...

For me I would rate the movie a 6/10, for I enjoyed the movie but for the technical glitches... and the ever so for the predictability...

Next up... Kung fu panda

Keeping it simple, sweet and always be ready to smile:

For there are millions walking the same street that we walk, a million of us share the same fate, some of us share the same reasons, in this world of electronics and communication, courtesy emails and the multi million forwards most of us share the same jokes to laugh at...

Living Life might translate into a hundred different reasons... But one thing that almost each one of has been chasing is the word,"the good life"...

What follows is a bit infact a lot different fomr what you percieve, just read through, step by step:

  1. Slow Down – Urgency and haste instantly diminish accuracy, awareness and happiness.
  2. Appreciate Life’s Simple Pleasures – The best things in life are free.
  3. Foster and Nurture Relationships – A happy, fulfilling life is a life shared with family and friends.
  4. Be Self Sufficient – Freedom is the greatest gift. Self sufficiency is the greatest freedom.
  5. Learn About Different Things – In life, a jack of all trades is far more equipped than a master of only one. Combining the two is the key.
  6. Concentrate on Your Passions
  7. Travel to Distant Places
  8. Talk to Strangers – Quite simply, this is how you will meet great people.
  9. Exercise Your 5 Senses – Sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. Each provides a gateway to rewarding personal experiences.
  10. Use What You Have – Success is not the byproduct of limitless resources. Success happens when you stretch the limits of the available resources.
  11. Assist Others – What goes around comes around.
  12. Be Clear on Your Goals
  13. Make a Decision
  14. Practice General Time Management
  15. Leave Time for Spontaneous Excursions– Opportunity sometimes knocks at unexpected times. Make sure you have enough flexibility in your schedule to respond accordingly.
  16. Educate Yourself on the Facts
  17. Think More, Talk Less
  18. Own Up to Your Actions
  19. Keep Your Promises – Not doing so guarantees loneliness and failure.
  20. Always Find the Positive Lesson – Every negative outcome holds a positive lesson. Finding it is the key to greatness.
  21. Forget Perfection, Find Satisfaction – The idea of perfection is based primarily on personal opinion, circumstance and flexibility. Instead of searching for perfection, find something that satisfies your needs.
  22. Eat Clean – Never doubt the old adage “you are what you eat”.
  23. Sleep Well – A tired mind is inefficient and unhappy.
  24. Laugh – Some of the most memorable moments in your life will be moments spent in laughter.
  25. Be Here Now – Right now is the only moment guaranteed to you. Right now is life. Don’t miss it

Do you get still want me to summarize it........

"Corporate rules"

The rat race is on, you accept it or not. The survival of the fittest.
Presenting the 7-GUIDE to Surviving the Corporate Jungle:

Rule #1: the most powerful concept of FUKITOL!!!

Don’t let the b****** get you down,
“Every dog has his day and so will you”

Rule #2: CALL a friend.

Telemarketers are extremely annoying specimens of humanity who WILL call and irk one in the midst of professional chaos – right? Wrong! Telemarketers can be your friends. All you need to do know is how to use them well. When a telemarketer calls, don't snap “Busy – not interested.” instead, say:"Oh thank you so much for calling. For xyz reasons I cannot afford your credit- card/housing loan/ personal loan – however I know a person who has been searching DESPERATELY for it - Please DO call him up – his name is Mr. XYZ (Mr. XYZ is the particular not-so-gentleman who might have pissed you off on that particular day) – oh and also, you have got my name wrong – its not ABC but NMC – just so that he doesn’t get confused in case you give him my reference”

Rule #3: Always see the CC
Have you looked at your outlook carefully? There is a very useful invention called the CC. its not there for decorative purposes. USE IT. Use it wisely and use it WELL. CC everyone – don’t stint. CC bosses, colleagues, their wives, their pet dogs, anyone and everyone. Don’t underestimate the power of CC in another very important C in your life – the CYA.

Rule #4: The concept "CoCo"

Put me up, put me down
Put my feet back on the ground
Put me up, take my heart
And make me happy

No I don't mean the song,'CoCo Jambo'
I've been exposed to concept ever since, but only understood it very recently. This useful principle can be adapted to all corporates as well and can be used judiciously on colleagues and senior management. The underlying principle of this is if you can’t CONVINCE, Confuse. Use multi coloured graphs. Use hyperlinks. Use cross tabs. Use arrows and the other entire useful thing which Power point has specifically made for this purpose. Wow them with the designs – overload them with numbers - annotate their heads with bullet points- and sock them with English which is open to various interpretations. Confuse the crap out of ‘em until their eyes glaze over and their heads start drooping from fatigue.

Rule #5: CHAK De Work

Have you ever played or watched tennis? Well it has some very interesting features that MUST be appropriated into your workplace viz. the art of volley! One can’t underestimate the role of lobbying in the workplace – it is CRITICAL. Whether it’s lobbying insults with moronic colleagues, or lobbying bills from one department to another or lobbying work to others.

Master this art.
When in doubt ALWAYS UPWARDLY DELEGATE.

Rule #6: CLASS Participation

how many times have you witnessed that you never get what you are due, while the one who constantly gas all around does manage to steep his way through the promotions. Therefore, meetings, conferences, group building exercises and all similar events provide a wonderful platform for growth and prosperity. ALWAYS state yourself with a great deal of passion and vehemence and conviction at every meeting you attend. Your point of view, your contribution does not have to be relevant to the topic – it can be anything.
Important thing is you should be heard.
This has often been referred to as the rule of CLASS participation.

Rule #7: CALCULATIONS for Success.

And the unfailing formula for success? Here is one which works every single time. Take your monthly gross salary amount – a nice round figure with lots of zeroes (hopefully). Divide it by 30. And every time you can feel your hair - chant the following mantra inside your head...

“For every F****** day I spend here, I get these many (the daily figure) nice, green notes in my bank account .Some weekends I get this for NOT working!”

Open your eyes to a new and brighter day!!!

to be contd...

Of faith : "International Society for Krsna Consciousness"

Dear friends,
Probably you have already seen members of the Hare Krsna movement singing and dancing in the streets or you have been asked for donation for a book or a magazine. You could also see them in TV or read about them in newspapers. How many times have you asked yourselves: Who are they? Why do they dress in this way? What do they believe in? Why do they always sing? Who is Krsna?
To enable you to better understand these Bhaktas, want to show you the Hare Krsna movement in detail and tell you who they are. You will be probably surprised by learning that to become a part of the Hare Krsna movement one does not need to wear traditional dress or change one's hairstyle or religion. You will discover that Krsna consciousness is much more than religion. It is a spiritual, universal, time-proven process enabling to achieve inner happiness, satisfaction and higher consciousness.
Hare Krsna movement makes spiritual reality and culture derived from it known to the widest public. This makes it unique. When you speak with a devotee from the Hare Krsna movement, eat spiritual food served in our restaurants, take part in the Sunday festival in a temple, read any of our books or chant "Hare Krsna" at least once, your consciousness will change. And this spiritual change of consciousness is the key to improvement of the quality of life on this planet.

Michael Grant (Mukunda Goswami)

***************************************************************
First questions
Can you tell me what you believe - what the philosophy of the Hare Krsna movement is?
Srila Prabhupada: Yes. Krsna consciousness is not a question of belief; it is a science. The first step is to know the difference between a living body and a dead body. What is the difference? The difference is that when someone dies, the spirit soul, or the living force, leaves the body. And therefore the body is called "dead". So, there are two things: one, this body; and the other, the living force within the body. We speak of the living force within the body. That is the difference between the science of Krsna consciousness, which is spiritual, and ordinary material science. As such, in the beginning it is very, very difficult for an ordinary man to understand the importance of our movement. One must first understand that he is a soul, or something other than his body. For example, as a child grows, he becomes a boy, the boy becomes a young man, the young man becomes an adult, and the adult becomes an old man. Throughout all this time, although his body is changing from a child to an old man, he still feels himself to be the same person, with the same identity. The body is changing, but the occupier of the body, the soul, is remaining the same. So we should logically conclude that when our present body dies, we get another body. This is called transmigration of the soul.

How are people recruited into your movement?
We sell books, people read them and when they are convinced by their contents, they usually visit the temple. If they like it, they decide to join us. Or they see the public program, become interested, then they visit us and decide to stay. Usually it is one of these cases.

Do you admit anyone to your movement?
We admit anyone regardless of race, religion, economical situation or anything else. We only ask those living in temples as "full-time" devotees to follow our rules and take part in temple programs. Otherwise anyone can become a member of congregation, live outside the temple and visit our programs when he likes and follow the rules according to his abilities. If they follow a stricter standard they can make their home into a center.

Some other Questions answered were :

  • Where do you get money to support your movement?
  • I feel that my belief in god is very shallow. How do I find out there is god?
  • Who is Krsna, then?
  • Can drugs help us in God realization?
  • It seems that to develop Krsna consciousness, among other things, means to shave one's head and wear saffron robes. Is it true?
  • What do the sign on your forehead and beads on your neck mean?
  • Is it possible for a person living an ordinary everyday life to develop Krsna consciousness even without these external signs?
I have collated answers for the questions mentioned above and a bit more of literature concerning the same...
lemme know in case you want to...

"They say it's easier to be a guy"

K the following has been written by a gal friend of me....

----------------

I need shoes. Here are the top reasons why. (Let it be known that there are more, however in view of consumption of blogspace and saving of bullet points etc, I shall jot down only the most important ones).

  1. Because i have only 2 pairs of stilettos now and one of them is really old.
  2. I recently bought 2 really cute pairs of shorts and other than sneakers, have no other shoes that will GO.
  3. In the last 3 weeks, two pairs of work flats BROKE. and I got only 1 replacement.
  4. The stilettos at Nine west Called out to me
  5. Ive always wanted a pair of really cool to-die-for Puma's. And if a guy friend validates that a pair of shoes is nice, imagine HOW NICE they must actually be!
  6. I dreamt i owned the shoes in question
  7. They're not shoes, they're a whole new me.
  8. Because Rainy season's here and we ought to celebrate no?
  9. The Ash moved to Kol and I no longer have anyone who convinces me into buying shoes i dont need. I mean i need.
  10. Because ballet shoes look terrific on my feet. They told me.
  11. Im a shoes and bags person. Also watches, perfumes and clothes. Which indicates i should be buying these things in quantities more than the average woman else i would be defying the definition. I wouldnt want to defy the definition now would I?
  12. Its the 4th of June
  13. After looking at these I had sweet sweet dreams.
  14. My toes will be painted this weekend and deserve pretty shoes.

Good judgement and logic generally accompany most decisions. Hence i also made a list of why i should NOT BUY new shoes.

  1. I am slightly broke.
  2. errrr
Argghh. Why couldnt I have been born a guy. I would've owned a pair each of the following shoes in the following colours.

Brilliant, that was like an introductory session to what goes inside a gal's mind ... or should I say how much do they think... and to what extent...

Boy ... Now I know why they say, "its impossible to understand what a women wants"

If I had to buy a shoe... the reasons...would be my old one can't be worn anymore that's about it...

K but why such a big blog about something like this...

well the friend continues to comment...
"
its so much easier being a guy! men are lazy, uncouth, unkempt, and get away with it"

Just replying to a comment

But being a boy ain't all that easy...

All the guys would appreciate the fact... that no matter how much we believe in all the things, e.g., keeping our rooms, clean, dressing up right for occasions and all the other similar things we never do or pretend to not care about, how we still manage to continue in our quest to be defined as uncouth, unkempt ... it takes effort... it takes courage to get in to public like that and to get away with it convincingly...

Does anyone ever appreciate the fact that all of our ( I mean all the guys) efforts towards one goal, one common aim to be labeled as we have been... without competing amongst ourselves of who dresses the worst or how well we disguise into that shabby look when in comparison to another... most importantly we never even discuss it amongst ourselves... does anyone have an idea how much of an effort it is to get the entire gender (more than half the population of this world) to work towards a common goal... there are dropouts, there are so many of us who tend to differ, so many of us who give up midway, so many of us who are forced to present ourselves in a more acceptable manner due to the external factors (job requirements and stuff like that), does anyone have any idea how hard it is to grow indifferent to all these, to all the stares from the world and continue to walk those streets, in the same clothes or the same jeans which haven't been washed in a months time now and sport the same careless attitude and the smile ... does anyone know how hard it is... to continuously alter our lifestyles to meet the requirements of the external forces ( such as our jobs and similar others) and to continue in our quest to keep up to the label that has now become synonymous and to a certain extent that defines us, us the "GUYS"

Jesus Christ...

and they say it's easier to be a guy...
