"3 J's and a K"

The Three J's & the K

***********

Nah... not talking of Blackgammon... for that matter not even a game related to cards...

I'm talking about the real Kings & Queens from yesteryear...

They came, they lived... lemme rephrase that...

"THEY CAME, THEY LIVED KINGSIZE... and when the time came... they took the call..."

***********

The 3 J's of the 60's : JIMI, JANIS and JIM

***********

Jimi : JIMI HENDRIX
(November 27, 1942 – September 18, 1970)

Wiki's first few lines on Jimi,"an American guitarist, singer and songwriter whose guitar

playing was a considerable influence on rock music."... just an influence...eh???

Jimi Hendrix taught people that great music comes in all different forms.

As a young boy, whenever the chance came, Jimi would try to play along with his R & B records. However, music was not his life long dream. At first, the army was. In the late 1950's, Hendrix enlisted in the 101st Airborne Division. After sustaining a back injury during a jump, he received a medical discharge. After his army career came to an abrupt end, he decided to go into the music field. By this time he had become an accomplished guitarist, and was soon to become known as the greatest guitarist ever... while growing up Drugs become a major part of his life... he even got arrested for possession of drugs more than one times...

started his career in 1966 with an album called "Are you Experienced?"

His career spanned four years... and in these four years he became a legend... a legend for his new style, outrageous performances and his powerful lyrics which captivated his audiences...

Jimi though has escaped lost in time, however continues to influence many of the new age musicians... by just being what he was...

As a definition, on his one side he had serious drug and anger problems. This side of him, obviously the bad one, was not the side his fans thought of when they saw his poster on their wall, they thought of his flawless other side in which he was an amazing guitarist, song writer and performer... now that's a compliment...!!!

Jimi Lives on...

***********

Janis: JANIS JOPLIN
(January 19, 1943 – October 4, 1970)

Rock and roll's first female superstar...started off early as a blues singer... only to realize later that her interest lies somewhere else, the creative hunger was close to be satiated... add to this the difference in opinion from the rest of the lot... the inability to deal with her teanage problems... at her school... a rebel at heart... drugs were an easy escape from the reality...

"I'm a victim of my own insides. There was a time when I wanted to know everything...It used to make me very unhappy, all that feeling. I just didn't know what to do with it. But now I've learned to make that feeling work for me. I'm full of emotion and I want a release, and if you're on stage and if it's really working and you've got the audience with you, it's a oneness you feel."

Dressed in the modest clothes, a tattoed wrist, and the bee-hive hair...

She did quit drugs for a really long time... and then the music happened... she struggled the initial years, but in 1968, with the album called "Cheap Thrills", she put forward her raw emotions... and the world connected...

She was there...

During the fall 1970, recording sessions for her next album "Pearl"... with Doors... Joplin died of an overdose of unusually pure heroin and alcohol... she was 27.

Did I just say DOORS?... the third J...

***********

Jim : JIM MORRISON
8 December 1943 – 3 July 1971

James Douglas Morrison... a poet, a song writer, a movie director... the lead singer for one of the greatest Bands, THE DOORS...

...THE LIZARD KING...MOJO RISIN...

As a kid when driving with his family, witnessed a car accident in the desert, where a family of Native Americans were injured and possibly killed. The Morrison family, reportedly just drove past it, without bothering about it or stopping for aid... and the Lizard King was born...

Incidently, "the doors' is my favourite movie, would have seen it alteast 15-20 times, and you can see Jim thinking about the dying Indian by the roadside through his life...

Anyways... about Jim...

The doors, the bands name drew inspiration from a book called, "the doors of perception"... belive me the book sold gold...

“When the doors of perception are cleansed, things will appear to man as they truly are... infinite"

Drugs, alcohol and sex ... Spontaniety was what he believed and they way he lived his life...

Greatly influenced by the nineteenth century poet Arthur Rimbaud’s philosophy to the group... Morrison named himself the “Lizard King"

One of the most popular and influential singers/writers in rock history, and "The Doors" catalog has become a staple of classic rock radio stations. To this day, he is widely regarded as the prototypical rock star: surly, sexy, scandalous and mysterious. The leather trousers he was fond of wearing both onstage and off have since become stereotyped as rock star apparel...

Following the mysterious death of the then contemporaries, Jimi in Sept, 1970, and Janis in oct 1970, Jim always mentioned of him being the third in the list...

He was under treatment by a Paris physician who mercifully stated the cause of death as heart failure thus avoiding an autopsy. His death was kept secret leading to a conspiracy theory of a faked death. A Paris funeral service took charge and Jim Morrison was placed in a standard simple french veneered coffin and a direct burial was completed at the Famous Le Pere Lachaise Cemetery in eastern Paris.

He was just 27...

Well for me the Death of Jim Morrison is fake... cause he nevr did die... he can never die... he never will...

***********

Did you notice the three J's, had all died at the age of 27... coincidence/conspiracy...

23 years later... there was another legend who died at the age of 27..."the K"

***********
Cobain : KURT DONALD COBAIN
February 20, 1967 – c. April 5, 1994

Lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter for the Seattle-based rock band Nirvana before committing suicide at his Seattle home in 1994.

Cobain formed the Band, Nirvana in 1987... just like the J's who had a span of 4-5 years... Nirvana came into limelight in the later part of 89...

Cobain, as is widely known, died at the same age as the 3J's did (27), from a self-inflicted gunshot wound...

***********
Cobain Vs. Jimi : Revolutionaries

One of the most important factors in becoming a rock legend is bringing about a revolution, opening people to something bold and new. Kurt Cobain, along with his band, Nirvana, changed rock music forever. In a time when music was becoming mass-produced, emotionless muck, Cobain brought about something that was repulsively beautiful and alive. He introduced grunge rock to the world: music filled with screaming distortion, tremendous angst, and overwhelming passion rarely seen from the generation that invented the term “whatever.”

Jimi Hendrix taught people that great music comes in all different forms. Their greatest common characteristic was in how they ended the performance; they would completely trash the stage from which they played. Cobain had the ability to make thousands of slackers stand up and scream for more. Unlike Cobain, Hendrix wrote music to support and inspire his followers, as opposed to creating a method of shock treatment through music. For Jimi Hendrix, it was his guitar interpretation of the “National Anthem,” while Cobain’s was his first hit “Smells Like Teen Spirit. The lyrics from his most popular song describe a feeling which is still felt by the youth of America in schools all over the country: “Here we are now, entertain us. Although they both had numerous great hits, both had one great song that would characterize their music careers forever. Both have songs which remain on the top countdowns to this day, although Hendrix died almost 20 years ago and Cobain passed in 1994. Kurt Cobain failed to teach us anything, but he did wake up a sleepy generation. ”

***********
Cobain & Jim: Poets of a generation

Even though it seems you cannot compare them you actually can... Unlike fictional writers their material comes more from their life experiences and feelings. Even though it was different things that affected each one you can still see a pattern of similarity between their lives. They both experienced hardships in their lives and also a few unexpected turns. There was a massive amount of stress put on their lives because not only did they have to worry about what they wrote but also what they said. Live performances were constantly being taped, there were interviews and television shows and specials, newspaper and magazine articles, and also public appearances. To them this also had to become a form of artistry. The publicity and fame that comes to band is far greater than any that would come to just one single writer. This was also a factor in their writings and maybe even in their tragic deaths.

Their great talents lead them quickly to stardom. And this stardom and their existing problems finally lead to their deaths. Their problems with drug abuse didn't help the others it was just another added problem that was also a great factor. They helped change the music world forever with their new styles and techniques.

***********

I'm not going to watch the Doors for a long long time again... cause I do not have the strength to let go my body into the subconscious soul like these guys did... and every time I watch it, the after effect stays for long...

GOD BLESS

"Food for Thought"

"Life was a lot simpler when what we honored was father and mother rather than all major credit cards."

GMC Vs. Bill Gates

At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated,

"If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25.00 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon."

General Motors REPLY TO BILL GATES

In response to Bill's comments, General Motors issued a press release Stating:

"If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics (and I just love this part, esp 10'th point...):

1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash twice a day.
2. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car.
3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this.
4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.
5. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive - but would ! run on only five percent of the roads.
6. The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single "This Car Has Performed an Illegal Operation" warning light.
7. The airbag system would ask "Are you sure?" before deploying.
8. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna.
9. Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.
10. You'd have to press the "Start" button to turn the engine off. "

Never undervalue the manufacturing & automobile industries

ROCK ON - the movie

ROCK ON...........
"Farhan Akhtar: Everyone dream's to grow into a Rockstar someday, ROCK ON is just my escape to the dream..."

I saw the movie two days back... but cause of the hectic schedule couldn't write about it...

To be honest... I didn't quite enjoy the plot... with Farhan in it, I was expecting something different, it is the same old story that has been sung at least a hundred times... they break, they reunite... and they create the magic...

I wanted the story to be a bit more dramatic... a bit more... intriguing... I wanted a bit more of ROCK... I wanted it to ROCK... rock me ...

Well that is my opinion... based on my expectations...

If I've to comment unbiasedly...

the movie on the overall... is DAMN good... definitely worth the time and the money...

I really liked the ending... I know it, each one of you would have guessed it right... but for me the concert was like heaven... I love live bands playing... and from the time I've heard this guy... I've fallen in love with his RAW voice... he is my BA

The best part is the MUSIC... it is so much inline with the Genre... it's done complete justice to the name & the hype...

Anywaz.. from directional point of view... Kudos to Abhishek...

To Farhan .... Sir you are a Genius!!!
To luke : Boss it was great to see u back....
to Arjun R & Purab K: gr8 job guys...

To the director: your comment on the end of the movie, " Please do not download the music", I guess its a bit too late... and about the movie no comments so I'm free to pursuit...

rating: 8/10

Verdict: Must have it downloaded into my collection...

Olympics 2008 - summary

1.China won the most gold medals at the Beijing Games with 51. They become the first country to crack the 50-gold mark since the Soviet Union in 1988. The most golds ever won in a single Olympics is 83 (United States, 1984).

2.It's the first time since 1936 that a country other than the United States or the Soviet Union has led the medal count.

3.China won more golds in Beijing (51) than they did total medals in Atlanta (50).

4.'Project 119' was a Chinese initiative designed toward winning golds in the medal-rich sports of swimming, track, rowing, kayaking and sailing. Reports are already crediting Project 119 with China's dominance in the gold medal count, but Chinese athletes won just four golds in those sports. Their total was instead augmented by even better performances in Chinese-dominated events like diving, gymnastics and table tennis.

5.The United States won the same amount of golds (36) that they did in Athens, continuing a remarkable consistency that the nation has exhibited over the past half-century. American Olympic gold totals since 1952: 40, 32, 34, 36, 45, 33, 34, 83, 36, 37, 44, 38, 36 and 36. (The outlier of 83 was from the boycotted 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.)

6.The overall medal count was won by the United States for the fourth consecutive Olympics. The U.S. earned 110 medals, compared to China's 100.

7.Per capita, China won one gold medal for every 25 million people in the country. The United States' per capita rate was one gold for every 8.5 million. The tiny island nation of Jamaica, which won a staggering six golds in Beijing, had a per capita rate of one gold for every 450,000 residents. Had China won at that rate, the country would have earned 2,889 golds.

(think about India, the simplest of calculations ever...)

8.Greece won 16 medals as the host country in 2004. Four years later, the founders of the Olympics managed just four -- their lowest total since 1992.

9.African countries won a total of 40 medals, the highest total in history for the continent.

10.Six countries won their first ever Olympic medals: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Mauritius, Sudan, Tajikistan and Togo.

11.Great Britain won 47 medals, the most in their history and a 17-medal increase from Athens. Expect an even higher total in 2012, when the Games will be held in London for the first time in 68 years. The last time Great Britain competed in a Summer Olympics on its home turf, they earned a disappointing three golds.

12.India has 17% of the world's population. They won 0.31% of Olympic medals.

13.China: 19.8% of population, 10.4% of medals.

14.United States: 4.6% of population, 11.5% medals.

15.Jamaica: 0.041% of population, 1.15% medals.

16.Iceland was the least populous country to win an Olympic medal.

17.Pakistan was the most populous country not to win an Olympic medal (164 million residents, sixth-largest nation in the world).

18.Michael Phelps would have finished tied for 9th in the gold medal count, ahead of countries including France, Netherlands, Spain, Canada, Argentina, Switzerland, Brazil and Mexico.

19.The rest of the world won seven golds in men's swimming events. Phelps, of course, won eight.

20.The United States won the most golds (7) and most total medals in the track competition (23), despite having what was widely considered a disappointing meet

21.More proof that boxing is dead in the United States: the country earned just one medal (a bronze) in the 12 boxing events. Even after three straight disappointing boxing performances at the Summer Games, the U.S. has still won the most Olympic boxing medals (109) in history.

22.China won 8 out of 12 possible medals in table tennis and 7 of 8 possible golds in diving.

23.Great Britain won 7 of 10 golds in track cycling and won 12 medals overall. The rest of the world earned 18 medals in the sport.

24. National gold-medal sweeps: Basketball (USA), Beach Volleyball (USA), Rhythmic Gymnastics (RUS), Synchronized Swimming (RUS), Table Tennis (CHN) and Trampoline (CHN).

25.Sweden had the best medal tally (4 silver, 1 bronze) without winning a gold.

26.Armenia won 6 bronze medals, but no gold or silver ones.

27.Speaking of former Soviet states, members of the former Soviet Union won a total of 173 medals in Beijing.

28.In 1992, Cuba finished 5th in the gold medal count. In 2008, the nation finished 28th.

29.From 1980 to 2008, Jamaica won three Olympic golds. In a span of six days in Beijing, Usain Bolt won three.

30.Sweden was a fixture in the top-three of the overall medal count for the early part of the 20th century. In Beijing, the Scandinavian country finished 38th and was shut-out in golds for just the second time in history.

31.Panama and Mongolia won the first gold medals in their respective histories.

32.China won 27 gold medals in judged sports.

33.The United States won 4 gold medals in judged sports.

34.In all, 958 medals were handed out to athletes from 87 countries, the most medals and medal recipients in Olympic history.

35. India won its first individual gold

Must haves for a symbian s60 phone

1) GmailGmail for Mobile is a fantastic Java-based application for accessing your Google Mail account on your mobile phone. They’ve made a great effort to use numeric keypad shortcuts to easily manage your mail. Though it’s a little buggy, overall it’s a great Gmail extension for your mobile phone.
2) GooSync – Your Symbian S60 phone has a calendar application, but what if you use Google Calendar as your main calendar? There are a few open source options for syncing the two, but when it comes to easily doing two-way sync, GooSync is the way to go. GooSync gives users two options: a free account and a pay account, with the main differences being that the pay account allows you to sync up to 365 days in advance and syncs your Gmail contacts as well.
3) Qik — If you’re familiar with Justin.tv, you’ve seen life-casting. Now you can conduct live Net broadcasts directly from your Symbian phone using Qik, a tool that utilizes the Nokia handset’s camera and either the cellular data connection or a Wi-Fi data connection. Using it over an EDGE data connection will cause video lag, but Qik streaming over Wi-Fi is very cool. If I’m filming something on my Nokia phone on Qik, I can see comments that viewers leave on the Qik web site as they’re entered.
4) Jaiku — A presence application similar to Twitter, Jaiku differs with features that include threaded conversations and topic-based channels. Jaiku has embraced the Nokia S60 operating system and has launched a native application to enable you to view friend’s Jaikus and post your own. Also if a Jaiku friend has the S60 client installed, you can see when they were last on their phone and where in the world they’re currently located. It’s also possible to see other Jaiku contacts that are in close proximity to you on the Symbian Jaiku client.
5) Fring — A multi-protocol IM client that currently supports AIM, Skype, Yahoo, MSN, Google Talk and Twitter, and features a SIP client. Fring seamlessly uses your data connection to allow you to IM or call contacts if they are on Google Talk or Skype. Fring also recently launched a feature that allows you to send files over Wi-Fi and 3G connection to your contacts. Very cool.
6) Nokia Sports Tracker — Using the N95’s built-in GPS module, Nokia Sports Tracker is a beta application that allows runners, walkers and cyclists to track and keep statistics of their workouts. Users can see stats such as average speed, total distance, altitude, and so on. Also, you can export your workouts into a KML file and map your workout routes in Google Earth. In addition, Nokia created a Facebook application that allows you to compare your workout details with your social circle.
7) Handy TaskMan — Sometimes you want to peek under the hood of your Symbian phone. Perhaps you want to see how memory much is left, or you’d like to see detailed information on all the running applications. Handy Taskman is the utility that gives you all this information and more. Additionally, if you have an application or task that is you want to easily terminate, Handy Taskman will allow you to exit the application with the click of a button.
8) ShoZu — The Nokia NSeries phones are made to create digital content, including great-looking videos and photos. But how to easily get all these media items onto your favorite media-sharing web service? Whether you want to upload video to YouTube/Blip.tv or put photos up on Flickr/SmugMug, ShoZu is the application for you. ShoZu lets you tag, categorize, and upload your media to these popular service providers in the background, and allows you to send a text message or surf the web in the process.
9) Nokia Podcasting — How do you manage your podcast library? Most people use iTunes or a Juice receiver. But wouldn’t it be great to manage your podcasts directly on the device you’re using to listen to them? With the Nokia podcasting application you can add, delete and manage your podcast subscriptions. In fact, you can download directly to the Nokia Symbian mobile phone over either Wi-Fi or your phone’s data connection. The functionality is very convenient, especially if you like being able to manage your podcast subscriptions without having to interface with your computer.
10) Google Maps — As a mobile warrior, I’m constantly finding myself in need of a map. Google Maps is by far the best mapping application. And it recently released a native Symbian application, allowing it to not only mesh well with the Symbian look and feel but creating a fast, seamless mobile map experience. Google Maps also features My Location, which is a poor man’s GPS, using cell phone triangulation to show your approximate location on a map. This is exceptionally handy if you’re trying to draw easy directions on the go or find a pizza place within a few miles of your current location

'Mumbai meri jaan'

I am a bit confused on what to write about this movie...

Infact, it is always so difficult to write anything that is a tragedy... unless it has a tie up with another story... like the Titanic...

This one is tied in with people from different walks of life... unlike most movies... this one doesn't tell of a beginning for the story, doesn't introduce you to someone's life in the usual way... it basically is a day before and until few days later... of the lives of these people...

To sum it up, if you draw an assumption of this is what the director was planning to showcase... absolutely great piece of work... if you were looking for a message, if any conveyed... again brilliantly put... a story to entertain... please do not go... it is not for entertainment...

My verdict : please do watch it is sometimes important to visit the humane side of you...

The apple conspiracy

Apples

A for apple, B for Ball, C for Cat.... wait...

Did I just say A for apple... damn... this is where it all began... the apple story....

(well I've been waiting to write this piece on "apple"... for the the longest of times... so here it goes...)

What do you read/ interpret... when you hear the word apple?

Lemme guess... fruits... I-pods... I-phones... Macs... etc...

for me... the word just translates into Evolution....

Why?

Case Study 1: Apple in history.... Adam & Eve : the tale of the forbidden fruit...

The traditional interpretation of the story of Adam and Eve is that they disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit, "apple" , which is the origin of Original Sin...the story symbolizes a major step in our evolution from animal to human, a transition which spanned millions of years...

What was the transition? the concept of morality... then the entire array of emotions, beliefs, and behaviors that goes along with it, eventually defining the base that lead to the development of civilization, along with its numerous ramifications...

Case Study 2: Apple = physics...

As it's been told for ages ... if it wasn't the apple that fell on Sir Isaac Newton... and the birth of physics happens... if only Sir Newton would have eaten the bloody apple than to ponder upon the whys and the where's and the how's... No physics... and the advancements in science... just imagine today we have people who do research on bomb deployment techniques as a subject... no wars... no hate!!!

No hate???... may be I pushed it a bit too far...

Anyways I hope you guys got my point... right!!!... Apple = Science = construction = destruction

(Physics Vs. me... its a mix bag of love & hate... I hate it, for I flunked it in school & college... I love it for the convenience it has brought in...)

Case Study 3: Apple as in "Welcome to the Apple Store"

Apple has been synonymous in bringing about a revolution in terms of all the electronics we use today... most of us today are equipped with a personal portable mp3 player... the minute I said portable mp3 player... the first thing that comes to your mind... I-pod... we go to shops today and ask do u have Phillips's I-pod... do you have Samsung's I-pod... A brand name has grown to define a category...
I-phone, the most talked about gadget... there definitely are phones which can match the features... but the complete package in terms of style & substance... I-phone leads the pack...

I-Mac or I book... a different breed of computers... there are people who invest as much as for them the cost is justified by the quality and for the purpose...

Given that kind of money... and allowed to opt... no matter who you are... and how well you know the technicalities... your obvious choice ends up at the "APPLE STORE"...

Case Study 4: A for Apple...

A for apple and the ability to write and communicate has been granted to the mankind... I agree a simple argument could be that English wasn't the first of languages... but yes the most commonly spoken language... if it wasn't for English the civilizations wouldn't have exchanged history notes... and we would have still stayed in the 14-15 century... each one for himself... kinds...

I would have been spared of all the academic misery and you would have been spared of reading my blog and the random ideas..

COINCIDENCE OR CONSPIRACY?????????

By the way... Apples are amongst my fav fruits and my refrigerator is always stocked with Apple juice...

Apples anyone...??

Hell Boy 2

Had lots of work to do... and needed something to keep me up... a friend just gave me a copy of the movie Hell boy 2... and the best part was the superclean print....

K first things first... SELMA Blair looks so bloody HOT in this click....
Another of the many Comic book Movies...
I kinda liked the action sequences, there was a bit of humour every now & then...
"the cuban Cigar" cracked me up...

Verdict: if you are a comic book movie fan ... Watch it!!!

An Observation...

Seeing that special someone in someone else's arm...
and if that doesn't hurt / bother you...
could mean either you are completely over that someone...
or the one was never special....

Smiles...

"Jai Hind"

61 years, 61 goddamn years...

the 50th year is still fresh in my memories... was still in school ...

it's been 11 years since then... and believe me things have changed...

K for all those who want to send me SMS's... orkut scraps... send me emails... please don't ... I do not want them...

I request to all those overtly patriotic only on 15th Aug or 26th Jan types... refrain from reading any further...

couple of days back Abhinav Bindra won a gold in olympics... first time an Indian has won an individual gold in the Olympics... everyone around was jubilant... at least 10-12 people's status message on my google talk screen read, "gold...., we've arrived,... East or west India is the best... and the likes"... 108 years that India has been participating ... we won a gold for the first bloody time... we boast of our hockey team holding the record for most gold medals by any country in the sport... and this time we don't even qualify...

A day before y'day, I was stuck in office late... cause of excessive work... I received a pop up... on my screen a friend sent me this on chat,
" this one Ch**iya wrestler, dunno from where, threw his bronze medal since he expected a gold"

and I was taken aback... I mean... how can one use such words... the attitude... Guys!!! just think once at least once before you let loose a comment on someone... this guy has won a medal... an Olympic Medal... (for those not aware- Swedish wrestler-Ara Abrahamian-silver medalist in Athens 2004)...
We come from a country which has won a total of 16 medals in the past 22 appearances... a single medal... and we all are going ga ga about it...

Read this in Ara's post match interview...
"I can't care about this medal. I wanted gold"
"This will be my last match. I wanted to take gold, so I consider this Olympics a failure..."
(read through about his match... apparently some controversy costed him the gold)

I mean I personally would bow down to such a performer... he might not have deserved a gold for his performance but... the respect he deserves is much more than that of GOLD...

Rediff reads,"Akhil stuns the World Champion"

I was reading an excerpt from the interview of Akhil Kumar...
ask him... anything and all his answers always tell you a simple story....

"I've come here for gold... I do not see anything but the gold... I train for the gold... I pray for
the gold... I fight for the gold..."

he ended his interview with a simple line...
"if I don't win gold... I'll be forgotten..."

... I can understand... for a cricket frenzy country like ours... nothing but cricket speaks... nothing but cricket... no other sport... has that kind of fanaticism or enthusiasm or appreciation...

Anyways coming back to the Akhil story...
I bow down to people like you...people like Ara... a true inspiration...
It's about standing up against all odds... to believe truly in yourself... and to work towards your goal... with everything u've got... being true to yourself... just to aim to be the best... and for not settling down for anything less than... I'll pray for you Akhil... you'll never be forgotten...

What better timing for this two events to occur than 15.08.08...

we Indians... have a habit of rationalizing everything...

A reality check... when was the last time you went to a Government office and got your job done without paying anyone... when was the last time you decided to apply for your driving license in the legal way... when did you went to the court for you knew there will be a final hearing... when was the last time... you didn't try and bribe the officer for you got caught crossing the signal... when did you bother to get into a bus only at a bus stop... when was the last time when you got up and offered your seat to some one in need... when did you follow the queue... when did you stood up and owned up your mistakes... when was the last time when you actually didn't behave racist... when was the last time when you did something good for some one without a personal agenda... when was the last time you took that extra effort to aid someone who really needed the help... when was the last time you apologized for your mistakes... add to it... the politics... the showdown of corruption at national television... we all know how f**ked up everything around is... but we still SMS to the entire bloody world... we are the best....

best in what???

Look inside... think for yourself... are we really the best...

Admit it... we are no where close to the best... forget best... being qualified as good... is a far of territory...

and believe me everyone who reads this... the first thing that comes to our bloody mind is...

to kya karien...?
kuch nahin ho sakta...is desh kaa...?
main kya kar sakta hoon...?
(translated as, what should we do...? nothing good can happen to this country? what can I do...?)

I must admit... there would be many who would have tried to stand up and bring about the change... there are many of us... who really do question the anarchy of the system... but we always do face the stronger, "What you gonna do???" forces... and as individuals you do sometimes have to give in, give in in front of this stronger "what you gonna kinda?" system...

Well do you still call yourself superior to the world... for the fact of the matter is you can't even call yourself superior to the third world countries... don't dare even comparing ourselves the first worlds... but we'd still send a million SMS's to depict our superiority in form or another...

For argument...we may have had a superior cultural history... but should we continue to call ourselves superior to the world on this base... reality check my friend... just ask yourself how many of us are still culturally connected... we make fun of people of all races to an extent that our humor is a mental harassment to another... forget other races.... we do not have a tolerance for people of different regions of our own country... remember the dialog,

"kya aapko apne hi desh mein mehmaan bankar rehna achcha lagega"
(Translation: would you want to stay in your country as a guest)

The dialog wasn't there for fun... but that is in fact the reality of our country...

<<>>

We may boast ourselves saying we have values... Values... what the hell is that... if the synonym you choose for value is suppression... yes we have values... for we force our women to lack of options... we get them married off to random people we choose... without even bothering of their adaptability or taking into consideration their acceptance on something of her own life... giving them the basic education... is considered waste of money and against the culture... <<>>
we force children to live life, out of our will ... impose our code of conduct... imposing and expecting children to do everything we say... is called child abuse... if you ever
try look up the percentage of physical abuse of children that happens in the country... is scary...
<<>>

All I am saying is... stop pretending... stop living it up in a dream... accept... admit... for reality is a different picture from what you are painting... yes we are morally superior... we do have values... we are the best .... but only when each one of us is true to ourselves... when each one of us... gives the best shot forward ... each one needs to see the common dream... the GOLD... to bring back the crown of once upon a time tagged "the Golden Country"... to where it belongs...

For once let it be a reality when we next hear the slogan
"East or West INDIA is the Best"

one of the most awaited movies....

my comments: saving grace- Akshay's comic timing, and katrina kaif in the pink skirt for that song... Jee karda ...

score: 4.5/10

Meet Dave:
Eddie Murphy srtikes again.... or should I say... Eddie Murphy on a Strike again...

I don't have anything positive to say for the movie... a completed waste of time...

"never back down"

another weekend... another review...

this one's one of the random movies I had downloaded... just cause I liked the name...

Actors: No clue who all are there... the hero looks like Christiano Ronaldo..., his girlfriend... who has this keira knightley's sheepish smile... then there is the guy who played slave in Blood Diamond...
Story:
As far as the movie is concerned... i think it was a remake of the movie Karate Kid... without Mr.Miyagi... and yes... no karate... add to it kick boxing... and yes girls and a college spat about who's the boss kinds... Jake is a new kid in the school, with a reputation of a tough guy from a feud he picks up on a football field... and this other kid... this other kid, who is supposed to be the claimed toughie this school beats the living hell out of him... and begins the karate kid story... and as usual when the training is done, Jake gets back to this bad guy and thrashes him bad and wins the heart of this girl... curtains....

rating: 6/10

comments: I liked it... i like these kinda movies.. rocky1, rocky 2 and so on so forth... m gonna watch them as many times as they'll show it

(P.S : I really don't know what keira knightley's sheepish smile is, its just a random way to put that at a particular scene i felt the smile resembles that of Keira and it just got stuck in my head...)

Say What !!!

I recently had an argument with some one at my work place, that we Indians don't invest in research....

I hope he gets to read this....

With fuel prices touching nearly $150 per barrel, it is about time we heard some breakthrough!
India's largest automaker Tata Motors is set to start producing the world's first commercial air-powered vehicle. The Air Car, developed by ex-Formula One engineer Guy Nègre for Luxembourg-based MDI, uses compressed air, as opposed to the gas-and-oxygen explosions of internal-combustion models, to push its engine's pistons. Some 6000 zero-emissions Air Cars are scheduled to hit Indian streets by August of 2009.
